First week: a light tingle is normal. If it stings for more than a minute, use every other night for a week, then go back to nightly.

Active ingredient Salicylic acid 2%

Purpose Acne treatment

Uses For the treatment of acne. Penetrates pores to clear most blackheads and whiteheads. Helps prevent new blackheads and whiteheads from forming.

Warnings For external use only. When using this product: skin irritation and dryness is more likely to occur if you use another topical acne medication at the same time. If irritation occurs, only use one topical acne medication at a time. Avoid contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

Directions Clean the skin thoroughly before applying this product. Wipe a pad over the entire affected area to leave a thin layer, one to three times daily. Do not rinse. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.

Other information Store at room temperature. Keep jar tightly closed to prevent pads from drying out.

Do the Pads sting?

A light tingle the first week is 2% salicylic acid doing its job. If it stings past a minute, go every other night for a week, then back to nightly.

My skin got worse in week two.

Normal with retinal. Skin can look worse before it looks better in the first few weeks. It passes. Drop Night Shift to two nights a week if it's rough. Don't stop.

Will it work with a beard?

Yes. Pads and Patches go on nose, forehead, cheeks. Night Shift and Day Job go into the beard without residue.
